It follows the story of a white family consisting of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy with their children SJ and Collins Tuohy, who take in a homeless African-American teenage boy named Michael Oher. Michael grew up in the bad part of town in Memphis, Tennessee and was raised in foster care since his mother was a drug addict and he had no idea who his father was. Because of his enormous size, he draws the attention of the football coach at Wingate Christian School and despite his ridiculously low GPA, he is accepted. One day on the playground, a kid named SJ Tuohy comes up to him and befriends Michael. Later, it is SJ’s family who takes Michael in as one of their one and helps him to succeed and later adopts him into their family. One of the first social-psychological principles that appeared in this movie that interested me the most was the concept of fundamental attribution error, that is, â€Å"the tendency to focus on the role of personal causes and underestimate the impact of situations on other people’s behavior† (Kassin, Fein Markus, 2014, p. 123). The United States system of federalism has changed greatly through landmark court decisions, congressional decisions, and strong presidential influence.
